Embarking on the Next Chapter of My Journey

Writer's picture: Carrie Voigt Schonhoff Carrie Voigt Schonhoff

It’s been quite the year! It’s been hard for me to articulate a wrap-up for 2022. If you’ve been following along on my journey (thank you for that!), you know that I’ve been busy. I was able to visit (in-person and virtually) 24 places to share my poetry: libraries, cafés, bookstores, gift shops, a school, a festival, and bars. I traveled to many wonderful places like Vienna, Nashville, Seattle and Austin. My books are in libraries in Austria and Germany and even a Celebrity cruise ship (unless someone decided to take them home).

I saw many dear friends and even made new ones. You might wonder if I planned everything out and I’m super organized. That would be a no to both. Margaret Geiger is my publicist, vital to my success, and has helped me share my poetry and reach more people than I ever thought was possible.

I have a couple of event dates planned for 2023, but this year will mainly be about

writing and completing book #3: the next chapter on my journey. Much like the first two books, it will have poems about people I’ve met and places I’ve visited, but it will also be reflections on moments in the past that I’m coming to terms with and/or healing from. My voice gets stronger as I get older and you will feel that in my poetry.

I wanted to especially thank my editor Simon Van Booy, new partner-in-crime and fellow poet Shahayra Majumder, daughter Sydney, son Austin, and the many family and friends who showed up for me in so many ways this year. I’m very blessed.

Thank you dear reader and follower, for without you, I wouldn’t be able to live an amazing dream. I’m wishing you and yours a healthy and prosperous 2023. Cheers!

Let’s chat soon.

With affection,

Carrie VS
