I had an incredible week! On Tuesday, I visited the beautiful Sun Prairie Public Library to talk about my poems and the inspiration behind them. I also sold and signed books. It was a great space and turnout. Thank you, Anna and Jill for hosting!
The second event was an Instagram Live on Wednesday with Helium Books. I can’t tell you how much fun we had! You can still catch the video on Helium Books’ Instagram. Helium co-founders Ian and Jacob were well-prepared and inquisitive, and we had great participation from the attendees. If you’re in the Milwaukee, WI area, check them out and attend one of their book clubs – they are in very cool places with excellent company.
I’m grateful to all that helped setup and attend the events. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.
In my life, I often look for signs to make sure I’m on the right path. Sometimes this can lead me astray as I haven’t read the signs properly. However, a week like this tells me many things, but one thing for sure – I’m on the right path with my poetry and book outreach. The energy and engagement from everyone I met this week was so positive!
With spring and the Easter holiday weekend, it’s clear that change is the order of the day. Time to clear out the old and bring in the new. It’s always a good time to renew our spirit. For me, birds tell us stories about the seasons and what we should pay attention to. It’s almost time for the orioles to make their yearly visit.
FLOWN
From The Liminal Space
I found a feather beside a book I’d forgotten.
Had a bird got into my house?
I often sing of sparrows.
They dine on mosquitos in twilight ‘round the barn.
A circle pattern,
feeding until full.
Or a hawk?
Perched on electric posts and signs
in the countryside where I live.
I know their white bellies and red tails.
Their landings are stunning.
I decided the spring song of an oriole,
sent the feather through thick dewy air
to mark pages I need most, to read.
Let’s talk soon.
With affection,
Carrie VS
